Getting to the Summit

Getting to the Digital Britain Summit is something that quite alot of people are not able to do, as it is over subscribed and was also by invitation only …

However, all is not lost - if unable to attend then you still have the chance to follow the action via a live webstream on the Summit website

http://www.digitalbritainsummit.co.uk/

If you are of a Twittering mentality then there will be a steady flow of updates appearing here:

http://twitter.com/digitalbritain

and you can use the hash tag #digitalbritain to hunt for updates - or even - if you are particularly technically enabled (unlikely this bemused punter who found the whole thing far too complicated) you can use Twitterfall

http://twitterfall.com/

… which will rain down hash tagged Summit updates upon you at it is promised, quite an alarming rate. Actually you might want (as might I) to get used to Twitter falls before the Digital Inclusion Conference 27/28th April as it will be being bombarded with a barrage of updates then as well.

There is also promised to be ‘live blogging’ on the Digital Britain Forum “discussion” site

http://digitalbritainforum.org.uk/

Though someone seems not to have fully grasped the concept of discussion - but you will be able to comment on blogs.

Dave Briggs will also be ‘live blogging’ here

http://davepress.net/2009/04/16/liveblogging-from-digital-britain-summit/

So there you are - join in - Tweet your questions on Digital Britain to @digitalbritain during the day (or before the event).

Speakers on the Summit include Lord Carter ( on a panel discussion from 11.45 - 12.30) and from 3.45 - 4.45 Stephen Fry http://twitter.com/stephenfry

If you are going look out for Stephen Dodson the Director of the DC10plus network, and whether you are there or not do check out the DC10plus network on Twitter

Please ask Stephen to mention that bbc have just released a HD Iplayer and that many MANY people can’t ever hope to stream it as their connections are so poor. There is broadband market failure in many rural areas, and satellite and mobile will never fill the gap. The answer is the eNdGAme, fibre to the home FttH.
I have asked on the digitialbritain blog but it is always better if someone stands up and says it.
    thanks
    chris

Hot off the press - Gordon Brown is apparently delivering the key note speech at the summit - and it looks as if that will be from 9.15am to 9.30

    from Stephen Dodson to Chris
Thanks Chris, as you know this is one of concerns, and I will raise this if I get the opportunity, though I’m sure many in the room will be sharing this viewpoint.
